It's been over a year since Respawn Entertainment graced the gaming world with the battle royale free-to-play game known as Apex Legends . In that time they've introduced plenty of new features, locations, and legends that have led players to fall even more in love with the world set in the Titanfall universe. Their latest character is the female thief Loba, who has ties to the last released legend in the game before her, Revenant. Let's now look at 10 little known facts you may not know about Apex Legends ' newest legend, Loba.
10 A Father's Gift, A Mother's Love
Loba happens to carry around a staff with her that has the head of a wolf on it. This was a gift she received from her father, which given her name, was likely the animal he most connected with. Her parents seemed wealthy, which was likely a result of their thieving ways. Her mother seemed to be very loving as she referred to her daughter as "cachorrinha" which translates to "puppy" in Portuguese. It seems her family has always been tied to the wild canines that survived in packs but were also known to thrive as lone hunters.
9 Age
Players are first introduced to Loba when she is barely 9 years old. At the time her name was unknown, as she was an innocent victim during Revenant's introduction video in which he murders her parents. Now that she's entered the fray of the Apex Legends map guide Games, she is no longer a little girl, but now a woman at the age of 34. It's been 25 years since Revenant changed her life forever, and since then she's lived a life of crime where she established herself as one of the greatest living thieves in existence.
8 Makeup Slays
A glance in Loba's direction will show you that this master thief is also pretty good with a makeup palette. The red eyeshadow around her eyes isn't just a random inspirational makeup look she saw on Youtube, it has a deep and profound meaning to her.
It's meant to resemble the bloodstains on her eyes when she witnessed her parents being murdered at the hands of Revenant. It's a reminder of her past, while at the same time giving her a spark of flair that makes her stand out even more.
7 Animal Love
Loba may seem like a hateful and vengeful person, but those feelings only seem to mostly extend to anything related to robotics. When it comes to humans and animals Loba likes and cares deeply about them. She's especially caring and protective of animals because she knows they have no ulterior motives. Her name being that of a she-wolf helps tie that connection even further as she, like a stray cat or dog, feels abandoned and left to fend for herself. Maybe she'll get a pet wolf by her side . Wouldn't that be interesting?
6 Bisexual
Respawn Entertainment is great at representation because they make sure it's clear, but it's never an overt defining characteristic of their legends . Loba happens to be a woman who is bisexual and is attracted to both men and women.
It's great because more games need bisexual representation, but it doesn't define Loba, just like someone's sexual preference isn't their defining personality trait. She has a quip where she says "Man Eater and Lady Killer" which expresses it, which was further confirmed by writer Tom Casiello on Twitter.
5 Voice Actor
Loba is voiced by a woman named Fryda Wolff, who's been an active actor and performer since 2003. Her name might not sound familiar, but in recent years she's landed some big roles in the video game space. She not only voiced Sara Ryder, the lead female protagonist in Mass Effect: Andromeda , but she also happened to voice one of the eight major characters featured in Square Enix's Octopath Traveler , Tressa Colzione. One listen to any of Loba's numerous quips with show you just how talented she is at bringing her to life in a real way.
4 Trust Issues
It's safe to assume at this point that Loba's biggest character flaw is that she suffers from severe childhood trauma that led her to develop crippling trust issues. Not only does she not trust robots, but her love of animals comes from their lack of ulterior motives. On top of that, she currently isn't in a relationship, which seems like something she struggles with due to said trust issues. It may not make sense but she trusts herself so much that she believes that she can make the right decision in trusting certain people.
3 She Hates Robots
It should come as no surprise that Loba has a hard time interacting with robots and finds them offputting. Even someone as gentle and kind as Pathfinder feels the wrath of Loba's disdain. When something as traumatic as what she witnessed at a young age happens, it can leave emotional scars that are almost impossible to erase. There may come a day where Loba's hate for robots, in general, dies down, but don't ever expect her to forgive Revenant for what he did to her and her parents on that fateful day.
2 Name Meaning
Loba's name was a really smart choice because it serves a dual purpose with both its traditional meaning and what it means in slang. The name traditional means she-wolf which makes sense considering she's an independent woman who is fierce and willing to do what needs to be done.
On the other end, in slang Loba is shorthand for describing an attractive woman. On top of being one of the best thieves alive, Loba also happens to be rather easy on the eyes and likely has men and women developing crushes.
1 Connection To Revenant
Apex Legends Skins Legends Has A Balancing Problem
When a child is robbed of her innocence, it's unclear what path her future will take her on. In Loba's case, the death of her parents at the hands of the murderous simulacrum named Revenant sent her down a dark path of vengeance and crime. Her parents were murdered when she was just nine years old, which in turn led to her getting taken in by a foster family. Over time she realized her parents were wealthy thanks in large part to their skills as thieves, a skill she inherited and learned to use the rest of her life.
